Digital Video Camcorder Is Also Known As Digital Video Camera
A digital video camcorder is essentially an electronic device that is used for recording video images (moving images; as opposed to still images taken on a camera) and audio onto a storage medium. The storage medium could be an optical drive, or a magnetic tape or flash memory. A digital video camcorder contains both a video camera and a video cassette recorder in a single unit and hence has been shortened to this name. It is like how biological diversity became biodiversity. In the olden days, the video camera and video cassette recorder were separate units.
The early camcorders were all contraptions made to record video images using a analog magnetic tape. Since the mid 1990s digital video camcorder became the norm. While the camera was quite small, the fact that a separate VCR had to be carried generally made shooting tedium and more than one person was necessary.
Digital video camcorder is often categorized by the storage medium it uses. The ones that are in vogue are Digital8, Hi8, miniDV, DVD, Hard drive and flash memory, which all record video in digital form. The newest entrants are the Blue Ray and High Definition DVD; also called as HD DVD. The analog forms included the VHS, Betamax ad Video8. It is an important that the digital form has overtaken the analog form and is being widely used these days. Nevertheless the analog form is still being preferred to the digital format. An analog recording shows, for example, more details than digital recording. The textures on a wall are clearly visible in the analog form whereas in the digital format the same wall looks flat and featureless. Digital video camcorder is being used in all walks of life from electronic broadcast of television news to current affairs production. For the common man, digital video camcorder covers weddings, birthdays, graduation ceremonies, and other personal events. The advent of the digital video camcorder in the mid to late 1980s has led to the creation of shows such as Americas Funniest Home Videos, where people could present home made video footage. All over the world, policemen use digital video camcorder to film riots, protests and the crowds at sports events. The film can be used to identify troublemakers, who can then be brought to court.
